About Roughrider Fountains
Made from high quality treadplate aluminum, Roughrider Fountains are built with an appealing form and long range durability. Whether installed in a barn built back in the 1800’s, or a brand new multi-million dollar, state of the art facility, these fountains look great. And thanks to “The Exclusive Easy Flow Drinking System” built into every Roughrider Fountain, water stays clean, and fresh, with minimal temperature variation.
Water entering the Roughrider Fountains 4½ gallon rubber water reservoir is controlled by the #1 rated Jobe brand “Rojo” Float Valve. Super Heavy Duty, and requiring a bare minimum of maintenance, the Rojo Valve is the perfect valve for these High Quality Fountains.
Roughrider Fountains are well insulated. In cold climate areas, they are kept frost free with a low wattage 65 watt heater, requiring very little electricity usage. In hot temperatures, water stays cool because very little water is exposed to heat in the drinking bowl. Most of the water is in the heavily insulated reservoir “under cover”.
An external drain plug makes draining the water reservoir easy, although not often necessary, thanks to the Roughrider Fountains “Exclusive Easy Flow Drinking System”.

Roughrider Riser Tubes
Since no one likes frozen water lines, we want to make sure that we get this part right. Depending on winter temperatures in any given area, water line bury depths will vary from 1 foot to 10 feet plus. To accommodate all of these variations, Roughrider Riser Tubes are available in a number of sizes and styles. The correct combination of these tubes will insure that open water will continuously flow to your Roughrider Fountains, no matter what climate you are in.
In areas where cold winter temperatures dictate that water lines be buried more than 4 feet, a 4 Ft. Insulated Underground Riser Tube is always necessary as the top part of our combination. Followed underneath by a Non-Insulated Underground Riser Tube in whatever length it takes to reach the bottom of the trench where the water line lays, attached together with a Coupler for Riser Tubes. This combination is ideal because the Non-Insulated Riser Tube allows warm ground heat to enter and rise up to the fountain. The Insulated Riser Tube up at the top of the combination separates that warm air from the cold air outside.
In areas that are not as cold with shallower bury depths, the length of the Non-Insulated Riser Tube is reduced. As the climate increases in warmth, it is no longer used.
In non freeze areas, only an Above Ground Riser Tube is needed.

Connector for Above Ground Riser Tubes
65 Watt Heater
To be used in fountains in areas where temperatures frequently stay below freezing for extended periods of time. Measuring 27 ½ In. x 5 ½ In., this low wattage heater sits in the back of the fountain’s service area, keeping the float valve and water line in that area warm and open. At 65 Watts, it consumes a minimal amount of electricity.
Thermostat
Attaches to the 65 Watt Heater to save even more electricity. On at 40 degrees. Off at 60 degrees.

Self Regulating Heating Cable
Used as insurance in Riser Tubes in areas with long periods of extremely cold weather.
